Steve Kuijt - Operations Manager
Steve has lived in Fernie off and on for over 25 years and skied in the area for close to 30 years. He worked his way up from summer park maintenance and ski bumming in the winter to year round guiding and now management of Island Lake Lodge. Steve is a member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, a professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association and has an educational background in Environmental Science.



Jennifer Coulter - Summer Program Manager
Experience - Senior Ski Patroller at Fernie Alpine Resort and ACMG certified hiking guide at Island Lake Lodge and Mountain Pursuits. Bit of a plant geek, can get overly excited about a plain looking flower she has never seen before!
Canadian Avalanche Rescue Dog Association (CARDA) dog handler with both an avalanche and summer search profile certification. Professional member of the Canadian Avalanche Association.






Duncan Maisels
Experience - Part of the guiding team at Island Lake Lodge Cat Skiing for the past few years and is a regular member of the program with Mountain Pursuits.
Member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides, the Canadian Avalanche Association.





Sue Boyd
Experience - Former Ski Patrol Leader at Fernie Alpine Resort, wide variety of backcountry guiding experiences from guide outfitter to cat ski guiding at Island Lake Lodge. Sue is also an ACMG certified hiking guide with Mountain Pursuits and Island Lake in the summer season.








Rick Emerson
Experience - Ski Guiding: Cat Skiing Island Lake Lodge, Ski Tour Guiding Mountain Pursuits, Fernie, BC.
Member of the Association of Canadian Mountain Guides and the Canadian Avalanche Association. B.Ed.
There is rumoured to be a few important looking pieces of paper rolled up in cardboard tubes and stuffed in the bottom of boxes somewhere.
